After reading the article I was shocked to learn over 37% of students said they were engaged in social networking more than 9 hours per week (Buzzetto-More). That is a lot of time to be on the internet and not engaged in something beneficial. I believe that this is the down side of how the internet has grown over the past couple of years. We are now so dependent on being connected all the time and that distracts us from getting important things done.
There are a lot of benefits to how much the internet has grown in recent years. One main place that this has benefitted people is in the world of education. It is truly amazing that course work can be completed 100% online. The fact that I can upload this blog post from Chicago and my classmates and instructor that are all over the United States can read it immediately.
